Tyrone is a part of the Fayette County Board of Education, which is made up three elementary schools, one middle school, one high school and three private schools. The Founder’s Day Festival is a three day long celebration which takes place every September to help bring the town’s citizens together. The First Festival took place in 1977; today, the festival brings in close to 15,000 and has vendors, carnival rides, live entertainment, a car show, a parade and fireworks.
The Legacy Theater is Tyrone’s premier Performing Arts Center. Shows in the past have included The Wizard of Oz, Some Enchanted Evening, High School Musical and Forever Plaid. The theater also provides classes which have included Musical Theater, Improv Comedy, Voice, Playwriting and On Camera. Broadway Workshops and Summer Camps are also offered.
Jumping Jelly Beans is America’s Inflatable Super Playground. Ideal for children’s parties, this phenomenal facility allows children to run, jump, slide, climb and bounce until they’ve had their fill. Parents are encouraged to bounce alongside their children and not miss a moment of the fun!
Parks and Recreation
The Wendell Coffee Golf and Event Center is home to golf, food and catering services. Surrounded by scenic views, this spectacular course has a four acre lighted driving range, a 9-hole, par-3 golf course, and a lighted 9-hole putting course. In addition, an elegant restaurant sits on the grounds alongside a spectacular event center, which is set against the crystal clear seven acre lake that runs along the property. The event center is ideal for weddings, family reunions, corporate functions and more. The course also provides full catering services and event services.
Recreational classes are very popular in Tyrone. Previous classes have included karate, line-dancing, Tai Chi and yoga. A number of art classes are offered as well such as painting and pottery. In addition, local sports teams square off and play against one another; previous teams have included soccer and baseball.
